It’s the day after Halloween. Jacopo (Gabriele Rossi) and Duke (Edward Williams) wake up in the apartment of two girls: Lenka (Carlotta Morelli), the Czech Republic, and Elizabeth (Noemi Smorra), English, both in Italy thanks to the Erasmus project. The dawn of that new day brings with it a big problem: Elizabeth died. But there’s more, because none of the three remember what happened. Neither James nor Duke nor Lenka, remember what happened that night.
The infamous director Ruggero Deodato of Cannibal Holocaust and House on the Edge of the Park returns with an unabashedly trashy flick inspired by Amanda Knox’s imagined night of debauchery. This is not based on any court testimony or interviews with those involved/suspected of the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher. It’s more like how tabloid journalists would’ve imagined what occurred. If you’re looking for a true crime film this ain’t it. However if you’d like to see some T & A, rampant drug taking, sex, and stabbing/slicing you could do worse. I couldn’t help imagine a 77-year old Deodato ogling his cast as he directed them in full frontal nudity. One thing you can say is he certainly hasn’t grown prudish in his old age. If you’re a fan of exploitation this is worth a watch. Most should stay the hell away.
