A long-awaited sequel to the internationally acclaimed full-throttle splatter sci-fi action horror “Meatball Machine“.
A fifty-year-old debt collector learns that he has cancer and only three months to live. But then there are those pesky aliens, who might shorten the time even more by turning him into a cyborg, and he’s not the only one. The ensuing battle – a regular cyborg melee – generates myriad prolapsed entrails and buckets of blood. According to the director of this comedic splatter flick, four tons of the (fake) red stuff were spilled.
“I’m not fifty years old, I’m fifty years young,” says the lonely Yuji, who makes a living as a debt collector. Most of the time, however, he fails to collect any money, and so he ends up paying off the debt out of his own pocket. On top of that, his doctor gives him a crushing diagnosis: He has cancer and just a few months to live. In this film by Yoshihiro Nishimura – well-known special effects guru of ultra-violent Japanese splatter flicks – this mournful situation is just the jumping-off point for something far more unrestrained. Aliens from outer space cover the city in a giant dome and start turning people into cyborgs that they force to engage in bloody battles full of disemboweled guts and buckets of blood – supposedly four tons of fake blood were spilled on the set. This sequel to 2005’s Meatball Machine shows inspiration from cyberpunk and the films of John Carpenter and Sam Raimi.
