Shame

Hardened prosecutor Asta Cadell leaves home for a road trip down the coast of Australia. But Cadell’s relaxing ride turns tense when her motorcycle malfunctions and she makes a pit stop in a remote town. Cadell meets teen Elizabeth Curtis (Simone Buchanan), who confides that she has just been raped, and Cadell helps the young woman report the crime to the authorities. When police corruption stands in the way of justice, she takes matters into her own hands.

Asta Cadell (Deborra-Lee Furness), a lawyer traveling through the Australian Outback on holiday, stops in a small Western Australian town after her motorcycle breaks down and shacks up with Tim Curtis (Tony Barry), the local mechanic, while fixing it. She then becomes involved in helping Curtis’ teenage daughter, Lizzie (Simone Buchanan), who has been recently date-raped by Danny Fiske (David Franklin), the son of a wealthy, well-known citizen and his gang. Asta persuades Lizzie to press charges against Danny, but the local population becomes determined to keep the incident a secret at any cost and soon Asta and the Curtis family’s lives are in danger.
