Yellow Birds, The

“Yellow Birds” follows John Bartle and the difficulties he faces in keeping his humanity, his urge to survive and his friend Murph alive during the war in Iraq, as well as his life and struggles with his memories of the war after he comes back to Virginia.

Two young soldiers are forced to endure the brutality and horror that war creates firsthand in this drama from director Alexandre Moors. Bartle (Alden Ehrenreich), who made a promise to protect his teenage friend Murph (Tye Sheridan) before departing for Iraq, looks to survive the fighting and grueling day-to-day conditions while also dealing with the stern, unforgiving Sergeant Sterling (Jack Huston), who is haunted by his own demons. Jennifer Aniston co-stars as Murph’s mother, Maureen. Based on Iraq War vet Kevin Powers‘ 2012 novel.
