Hello girls and boys,
We have been so busy since we last wrote to you! We went back to visit our friends in Vrtec Galjevica again. The children in this school are all aged between 1 and 6 years. Here is a photo taken outside the school, with one of the Slovenian teachers who is doing the project with us.
We were all very excited as the children dressed up in traditional Slovenian costumes and performed a beautiful dance. They also performed a dance about kings and queens.
Pippi was so happy when she saw all of the Pippi artwork they had made….
….and she even made a new friend!
We visited a primary school after this. In Slovenia children start school when they are 6 years old. The children in grade 4 (10 years old) performed a Pippi play for us. Pippi wanted to join in the fun!
Can you guess who these other 2 characters are?
Pippi also admired the artwork and Comenius work that the children were doing in the school!
After our school trip we got on a bus to visit Lake Bled. Pippi wanted to ride her horse there but it was raining heavily. When we got there she wanted to go exploring.
She spotted a church. Can you find it?
Then she ran inside to explore the castle and she wasn’t disappointed! Have you seen any of these things in Malahide castle before?
Can you spot when this bathroom was built?
After all her adventures Pippi was very thirsty. She was very happy when she found a well but the well was dry so Pippi had to make do with bottled water.
After going on a tour of Ljubljana Pippi learned that people long ago in Slovenia believed that a dragon protected the city. There is a famous bridge called Dragon Bridge and here is Pippi flying on the dragon!!
We have all really enjoyed our adventures in Slovenia and we are looking forward to telling you more about it when we get home!
We can’t wait to see you on Monday.
Love Pippi, Mr.Nellson, Ms.Staunton, Ms.Collison and Ms.Shevlin x
